FAMILY 01
The softest fiber in the world.
Selected at the source, woven in Prato.
The fiber
Menchi cashmere comes from Hircus goats in the highlands of Central Asia — Mongolia, Northern China, and Iran. The fiber is harvested once a year, in spring, through manual combing of the undercoat. It is one of the rarest materials in the world: each goat produces an average of 150–200 grams of combed fiber per year.
Menchi directly selects the lots, favoring fineness levels below 14 microns for high-end fabrics. The result is a fabric that is unparalleled in its softness to the touch and structural lightness.
The Menchi Cashmere family includes fabrics for structured outerwear, soft coats, lightweight overcoats, and technical items for contemporary luxury. Each item is available in a wide range of weights, from 280 g to 1,200 g.

Why choose it
Absolute softness
The fineness of the fiber below 14 microns ensures a total absence of itchiness and a hand feel unparalleled in the world of outerwear fabrics.
Natural thermoregulation
Cashmere is a hollow fiber: it traps air and regulates body temperature naturally, making it warm in winter and surprisingly cool during transitional seasons.
Superior drape
The fiber structure gives Menchi fabrics a natural drape that elegantly adapts to the body. A cashmere coat is not just carried: it is worn.
Fabric longevity
A Menchi cashmere fabric, properly cared for, improves over time. The fiber settles, and the fabric gains character. It is the opposite of disposable fashion.

From raw fiber to fabric
01
Raw material selection
The raw fiber is selected lot by lot. Menchi favors fineness levels below 16 microns and staple lengths exceeding 38 mm to ensure the highest yarn quality.
02
Specialized spinning
The fiber is processed by specialized spinning mills that are partners of Menchi. The yarn count is calibrated to the final item: finer yarns for lightweight fabrics, thicker ones for compact structures.
03
Weaving and finishing
Weaving takes place at the Montemurlo mill. Finishing — fulling, shearing, steaming — is when the fabric acquires its final hand feel. Each item has a specific finishing cycle.
04
Quality control
Each piece is manually inspected before shipping. The inspection verifies weight, width, color fastness, and the absence of defects. Only fabrics that pass all parameters leave the mill.
